Vacuum forming technology, also known as thermoforming technology for plastic sheets (plates), is a type of secondary plastic processing technology.
Unlike primary processing processes such as injection molding and extrusion, it does not involve heating and molding plastic resin or granules, or continuous forming through a single mold and cross-section; nor does it use machine tools or cutting tools to cut off a portion of plastic material to obtain the desired shape and size. Instead, it involves heating plastic sheets (plates) and using molds, vacuum, or pressure to deform the sheet (plate) to achieve the required shape and size, supplemented by auxiliary processes to achieve the intended application.
Vacuum forming equipment includes several parts such as a clamping system, a heating system, a vacuum and compressed air system, and forming molds.
