A multi-station cold forging machine (also known as a multi-station cold heading machine) is a specialized piece of equipment used for cold forging metal parts. Through continuous operation at multiple stations, it cold forges raw metal materials into parts of the desired shape. Its working principle includes four core steps: feeding, cold forging, transfer, and waste material discharge.
Feeding involves placing metal bars or coils into the machine's inlet, which is then fed into the first station via a feeding device (such as rollers).
Cold forging occurs at each station, where the raw material is clamped by cold forging dies and subjected to cold forging force. The material is shaped through cold forging deformation. Each station performs different cold forging processes, such as cutting, ball pressing, corner pressing, punching, stretching, and compression, either sequentially or simultaneously. Ultimately, the bar material is gradually processed into the target part. Cold forging stations are typically arranged horizontally.
Workpiece transfer occurs after cold forging at one station, where the workpiece is moved to the next station for the next cold forging operation. Multi-station cold heading machines typically use turntables, chain drives, or other methods to achieve continuous workpiece transfer.
After all processes are completed, the workpiece is discharged through a waste material discharge device, while new raw materials enter, initiating the next round of cold forging.
